About the project

Creating a luxury-first e-commerce experience that could sell, scale, and set the tone for a brand

Eden Hair Salon was getting ready to open its flagship location in Belgrade. The space was still under construction when the team reached out with a request. They needed a website to introduce Eden to the world, build anticipation, and start selling products.

The challenge was to design and launch a full e-commerce experience that could bring their brand to life and drive early sales, all before a single customer walked through the door. The website needed to feel refined and elevated, just like Eden’s physical space.

I joined as one of two designers and worked on the full experience from start to finish. We designed everything in Figma and launched it on Shopify in less than a month. When our developer dropped out before launch, I took over implementation. I learned Shopify, edited the theme directly, and used custom code to polish the details and make sure everything worked.

Visual Identity

Brand Immersion

The first step was understanding what Eden stood for. We met with the founder and began diving deep into their brand ethos through collaborative meetings and thorough market research. By understanding Eden’s vision, values, and target audience, we laid a strong foundation for a tailored digital strategy.

We looked at reference brands across fashion, skincare, and boutique salons. The early research helped us translate those abstract values into something visual: a bold logo, editorial photography, and generous space. It all needed to feel intentionally high-end.

How do you build trust in a brand that no one has touched yet?
What does luxury feel like online — and what earns a user’s confidence before the first visit?

elegant and simple

We built a sleek, user-friendly Shopify website that brings Eden’s brand to life, We focused on a simple layout that highlighted Eden’s services and products without overwhelming the user. Product pages featured rich imagery and ingredient details. Intentional colour choices gave it a hint of luxury.

With a polished, intuitive design and a solid e-commerce foundation, Eden is now ready to launch with confidence, offering a seamless digital experience that matches their luxury salon experience.

Intuitive Product Collections

Throughout the project, we focused on seamlessly merging two key areas: the salon experience and the online store. The salon provides personalized, hands-on services that embody care and relaxation, while the online store extends this experience digitally, making complementary products easily accessible.

Integrating these elements created a unified customer journey, enhancing satisfaction and business performance both physically and digitally.

Real Functionality

Every line on the homepage had a job to do. We focused on writing that showed users what Eden was, what they could do here, and how to act. Instead of generic headings or filler content, we chose direct, inviting language that reflected the brand’s tone but stayed clear and useful.

WE ARE

More than a hair salon

Your Perfect Look Awaits!

While the shopify site was designed to feel minimal, the structure behind it had to support both product sales and appointment bookings. I handled the layout structure, set up custom product collections, and adjusted how content blocks were used to keep things flexible as the brand scaled.

From the start, we laid out the site with long-term use in mind. I added metadata to help with SEO, grouped products by behavior rather than just category, and made sure the admin system was simple enough for the client to manage after launch.

Responsive design

Most of Eden’s traffic was expected to come from mobile, especially during the launch. We prioritized a layout that felt lightweight and easy to move through, even on slower connections or smaller screens.

Spacing, type sizes, and image placement were adjusted specifically for mobile. Key actions like booking and browsing were kept within thumb reach, and we removed anything that slowed the page down. We also tested across devices to make sure the experience felt smooth and consistent end to end.

What did I learn?

While I has designed the full site in Figma within 3 weeks, just before handoff, our developer dropped out.

So I learned how to implement it myself.

While I has designed the full site in Figma within 3 weeks, just before handoff, our developer dropped out.

So I learned how to implement it myself.

I hadn’t planned to take on development, but the timeline didn’t allow for delays. I opened up Shopify’s theme files, taught myself the basics of Liquid, and used trial and error to get the layout working the way we designed it. When I hit a wall, I asked ChatGPT for help.

The experience made me more aware of how design choices carry into development. Clean layer naming, consistent spacing, and predictable structure all made implementation easier. Since then, I’ve been more intentional in how I organize files and build layouts. It also gave me more confidence to step in when needed and follow a project through to the end.
